📋 Permits & Licensing
Do I need a permit for electrical work?+

Yes. In Colorado, virtually all electrical work beyond simple fixture replacements requires a permit. This includes panel upgrades, new circuits, EV charger installations, and rewiring. Permits are required for your safety and to protect your home's value — unpermitted work can cause problems when selling. YK Electric pulls all permits as part of every job.

Is YK Electric licensed and insured?+

Yes. YK Electric LLC holds a valid Colorado electrical contractor license and carries full liability insurance and worker's compensation. We're happy to provide proof of insurance before any work begins. Ask when you call.

Who pulls the permit — me or you?+

We pull the permit. As a licensed electrical contractor, we're responsible for filing all permit applications with your local municipality. You don't need to do anything — we handle all the paperwork, and the permit cost is included in your estimate.

What happens during an electrical inspection?+

After the electrical work is complete, a city or county inspector visits to verify the work meets code. YK Electric is present during the inspection to answer questions and address any items if needed. We don't leave you to deal with inspectors on your own — we're there with you.

💰 Pricing & Estimates
How much does a panel upgrade cost?+

A 200-amp panel upgrade in the Denver area typically costs $1,800–$3,500, depending on the complexity of the job, your home's existing service, and whether utility work is required. We provide flat-rate written estimates before any work begins. Call us for your specific situation.

How much does EV charger installation cost?+

Standard Level 2 EV charger installation typically runs $400–$900. The price depends on how far we need to run wire from your panel and whether conduit is required. If your panel needs an upgrade first, that's a separate cost. We can often do both in one day.

Do you offer free estimates?+

Yes, we offer free estimates for all projects. For straightforward jobs like panel upgrades and EV chargers, we can often give you an accurate price over the phone. For larger projects like whole-home rewires, we prefer to do a brief on-site walk-through. Either way, there's no cost and no obligation.

Are there any hidden fees?+

No. We use flat-rate pricing, which means the price we quote is the price you pay. We include permits in all estimates. The only time a project cost would change is if we discover unforeseen conditions during the work — and if that happens, we stop and discuss it with you before proceeding.

Do you offer financing?+

We don't offer in-house financing at this time, but many customers use home improvement loans, HELOC, or contractor financing programs through their bank. For EV chargers, some utility companies offer rebates or incentives — we can point you to relevant programs when you call.

🗓️ Timeline & Scheduling
How quickly can you schedule my job?+

For most jobs, we can schedule within 3–7 business days. Emergency situations are given priority. Call us at (303) 419-7849 for current availability.

How long do most jobs take?+

EV charger installation: 2–4 hours. Panel upgrade: 4–8 hours. Most jobs are completed in a single day. Whole-home rewires typically take 2–5 days depending on home size. We'll give you an accurate timeline when we estimate your job.

Will my power be off during the work?+

For panel work, your power will be off for a portion of the day — typically 2–5 hours. We'll let you know in advance so you can plan. For EV charger installations on existing circuits, we can often minimize downtime. We work efficiently to restore your power as quickly as possible.

Do you work weekends?+

We typically work Monday through Saturday. Sunday availability varies. Call us to discuss scheduling — we're flexible and try to accommodate your needs whenever possible.

🏠 What to Expect
What should I do to prepare for an electrical job?+

For panel work: clear access to the electrical panel and a 3-foot clearance around it. For EV charger installation: ensure the garage or installation area is accessible. For whole-home rewires: we'll give you specific preparation instructions during the estimate visit. In general, just make sure we can get to the areas we need to work in.

Do you clean up after the work?+

Yes. We clean up our work area before we leave. Any wire cuttings, packaging, or material scraps are removed. For larger projects like rewiring, we work carefully to minimize dust and debris, and can coordinate with drywall contractors for any patching needed.

Do you give a warranty on your work?+

Yes. We stand behind our work. All labor is warranted for 1 year. Materials are covered under manufacturer warranties. If there's ever an issue with work we've done, call us and we'll make it right.

Who is the electrician who will do the work?+

YK Electric is personally owned and operated by Yuriy, a master electrician with 20+ years of experience in the Denver area. Every job is overseen to ensure the highest quality work and code compliance.
